JUMPSTART PERFORMS 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION! The City of San Marcos, TX is hosting the most exciting annual community independence celebration at a new location this year. This FREE event will feature live entertainment, food booths, children’s activities, a patriotic program and a fireworks exhibition. Summerfest will be held on the grounds of San Marcos Plaza Park, same location as Sights of Sounds of Christmas. Rain or shine, festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a variety of musical and family entertainment. The 2008 musical line up is headlined by the high-energy, all-age-appeal Austin band JUMPSTART, who feature a variety of musical genres that is sure to please even the most discriminating musical perspective. JUMPSTART will play its popular music mix from 8 to 9:30 p.m., leading up to Summerfest’s expanded fireworks exhibition. Since 1988, JUMPSTART has been entertaining a wide variety of audiences. The nine-piece ensemble features a full horn section, dynamic rhythm section and male and female lead vocalists. Come enjoy an extraordinary pre-fireworks musical treat featuring Mike “Style” Murillo (guitar & keys), Lisa Marie (lead vocals & percussion), Joe Pacheco (lead vocals), Leroy Rodriguez (keyboards & accordion), Bruce “Batman” Wayne (drums), John Koehler (Bass), John Burton (trumpet & vocals), Ulrican “Hurricane” Williams (trombone & vocals) and Syd. Polk (barri, tenor, & alto sax). Mike, Joe, Leroy and Bruce graduated from Texas State University. Joe, Leroy and Bruce are San Marcos natives.
